So I'm Thinkin'...

Updated: Feb 13, 2019

What a way to start a blog. Thinkin', what a concept. I've tried it before and it seems to work. But there are those times where shutting the "Thinkin'" thing off becomes so much more creative.

I've been a magician for a very long time. I love my job. As was taught to me many years ago, "If you do what you love, you'll never work another day in your life." That's mostly a true statement. The only times it's not is when I get in the way of the flow and jam up my stream. It's usually short lived and it's, most of the time, an easy fix.

It's an interesting World these days. It's fast. I'm not sure if it's because I'm getting older or if the World is actually changing, but there seems like there is so much more immediacy going on. I do love that word immediacy. It's the way things get done and also a way to fall into the trap of having too much to do.

I separate it because, now get this, I found out that I can think of a lot of stuff at the same time, but when it comes down to action, I really can only do one thing at a time. At least that's the illusion that I have most of the time. I say illusion because you and I both know that we can do, process and create all at the same time.

I mean think about it. We as magicians need to be doing one thing that our audience sees us doing, when we are doing another thing in the background and moving into the next phase of performance all at the same time which creates the illusion or effect on our audience that we are just doing one thing. Now that's a whole different way of doing one thing at a time. I'll get to all that later.

In fact, I'm struggling in getting this new website up and running because I'm afraid to pull the trigger. The last site I republished, I lost the email address and had to set up another one for a month before I found out how to keep it running during the process of the DNS and MX records transfer. This email has been propagated since 1997. If I loose it I loose contact with a ton of people, businesses and such that may be a real pain to happen.

But, as Mel Fisher said so well, "Today is the day." Let's just see what happens. The site will be down for 7 days while the DNS changes places out there in cyber space. But as Ken Roland once imprinted in my brain, "What the hell..." I'll go with that. I'll be back in a week or so. Later.

To be continued...
